Five years ago I met Matthias Oesch, the family tree researcher from Deitingen (Switzerland). My important question was: Are we direct relatives to this Finnish Commander-in-Chief?
I’ve been so fascinated by Matthias’ meticulous work. He worked over 7 years on the story of the family tree. He found important contemporary witnesses of the roots till up to Finland. Family tree research has tradition for the Oesch’s and we will continue our work.
It’s the reason to produce a movie about the Oesch History. I began in Oberlangenegg and this summer we are going to travel to Finland. By the way, the family tree (1535-2005) is now available as a big poster and can be ordered from Matthias Oesch.

June 2007: The documentary «The adventure of genealogy» is now available by Hansjürg Oesch or on the online-shop. More information about this documentary you find here. A genealogist, interesting roots of Oesch and an exciting emigration story which takes us to Finland. Special thanks to the speakers, Daniel Felix and Markus Bürgi, the graphic artist, Christian Anderegg, and for this special sound, Jörg Bernhard!

On 12 May, movie pre premiere by Daniel Felix. Big cinema and top sound! Invitation for the crew, who worked hard for this documentary. On 23 June, Hansjürg brings a lot of ordered DVD’s to Matthias in Deitingen. So Matthias has also his movie premiere.

10th april 2008, I met Josef Bucher, Swiss Ambassador in Finland. He stayed in Bern for several days. He brougt some compliments to me for my documentary «The adventure of genealogy». I was very impressed about his commitment for Karl Lennart Oesch performance founds acceptance. We talked also about the museum in Lappeenranta, who will go open.

In November 2008 I traveled to Helsinki. I participated at the seminar «Military history,
Karl Lennart Oesch». Exciting talks and emotional discussions. The Swiss Ambassady offered a delicious buffet
and we had the chance to profound our talks.
On the 14 until 16 of August, I visited with daughter Jennifer the international Oesch meeting in Helsinki. Klaus led us competently and he told us a lot about the Finnish history and about different wars. So we understood much better the rule of Karl Lennart Oesch. Whole Saturday was very marked  of the international Oesch meeting.
On Sunday, after the service in Temppeliaukio church, we visited Jorma Oesch and his farm in Ruha .Back to Helsinki, after dinner, time came to say good by.
Jennifer an I travelled to Mikkeli, to visit the infantry museum. So I documented on video the exhibition about Karl Lennart Oesch, well informed headed by Pekka Vauhkonen, director of this museum.
