| TGV is the first time in Switzerland, railwaystation Lausanne, october 1980 |

TGV (French high speed train)
- Since 1982, I make movies about TGV theme. In the year 2011 it will be the 30th birthday of TGV.
- In 1976, my fascination started about TGV. This train was designed on paper. At the same time the construction of high speed line begann 425km long.
- 1978 the first 2 trains of pre-serie started a lot of tests on the classic line between Strasbourg
and Colmar. Fast and faster, until 280km/h!
- In february 1981. A serie train realized a new world speed record on rail. 380km/h.

- Since september 1981 TGV are in regulary services on the south -east high speed line.
From Paris to Lyon, running time is 2h40
- 1983. The whole line is in service. Running time now, 2h.

Switzerland was the first country who took adventage of TGV services.

- 1984 Paris – Dijon – Vallorbe – Lausanne
- 1987 Paris - Dijon – Franse – Neuchâtel – Bern
- 1995 Snow TGV, Paris – Lausanne – Montreux – Aigle – Martigny – Sion – Visp – Brig

| TGV Atlantique |
| In 1986 the second high speed line was under construction. Point of departure railwaystation Paris Montparnasse.
Tunnels where necessary to find a way out under a very settled suburb area of Paris. Than the high speed line follow some
kilometers a long the highway number A10.Near Courtalain the west branche continu in direction of Le Mans, Bretagne and Nantes.
In 1990, the south west branche was open for public trafic in direction of Tours. Alltogether 280km of new high speed line. |

| A new TGV generation was constructed. 105 units, made by Alstom. Big difference to the first generation. Synchron engins with 8800kW power. 10 trailer cars instate of 8, more confortable.
Speed limite 300km/h and a better aerodynamic.
Traveltime from Paris to Rennes or Nantes 2 hours.Paris – Bordeaux 3 hours.
18 Mai 1990. A shorter version of TGV A killed the German ICE record of 406km/h.

| TGV Nord |

The 3rd high speed line ist the first international TGV line. One branche starts at
Paris-Nord to Lille and Calais, using chunnel tunnel until London.
The second branche starts near Lille to Bruselles.
26 september 1993. 333km of high speed line Number 3 are ready in France.
Chunnel tunnel got open in November 1994. |

French, Belgium and British railway companies ordered Eurostar TGV by Alsthom.
Chunnel tunnel and the British railway profile made necessary a special train. Also complicated was the power system 750 Volt from a current rail. |

| On the same time, who was constructed the 3rd TGV line, a ring line around Paris was also under
construction. It is possible to run from the North to the South-East or direction Atlantique,
without passing to Paris. |

| Direction South, TGV Rhône-Alpes |
 |
1991 marked the beginning of construction work on the 115 km long line TGV
Rhône –Alpes. The transit route starts north of Lyon and ends near Valance.
The new rail track was opened in 1994.
Renovation of the orange TGV trains also started in 1994. The maximum speed was raised to
300km/h. |

TGV Méditerranée |

In 1995 construction of the 250km stretch began, called TGV Méditerranée, from Valence
to Marseille.There never been had so much opposition and delays.
2001 the new track was
officially opened. The Manche and the Mediterranean Sea are now linked up with a seamless
high speed track measuring 1067km.
More and more double deck TGV came in service. They are able to carry more than 1000 passengers in double units. |

TGV East |
 |
The Eastern TGV line is a international line. It significantly reduces travel time from Paris
to Strasbourg, Mulhouse, Stuttgart-Frankfurt and Basel, Zurich. It’s the first track to allow a consistent travel speed of 320km/h. It was opened for tests end of 2006.
TGV réseau trains are in service. The interior of the carriages was completely redesigned by Christian Lacroix, a celebrated fashion designer. |

| The newly enlarged and rebuilt Strasbourg railway station already takes this into account. |

A new high speed record! |
4th april 2007. TGV 4402 realized a new world speed record on rail. 574,8km/h |

Several weeks after this record, the record TGV was presented on the river Seine in Paris. |

TGV Rhin – Rhône |

Under construction ist the 7th. high speed line, Rhin – Rhône.
It starts near Belfort via the north of Montbéliard, Besonçon and ends in the area of Dijon.
It courts 140km.
In december 2011 it will be start trafic. A importent hub direction North – South. Germany
and Switzerland are also able to benefit of this line. To Paris, is it possible to win a half- hour. |
